Comrades, don’t you also think that January felt like a 9 week long month? But hey, it’s February now, the sun is shining and I’m blooming with ideas, projects and finally I feel like I’m finding a more or less organised routine.
If you follow me on Notes (Substack App) you know that the current wife and I recently moved into our new flat at the end of last year. As it turns out, I’m not very good getting used to big changes like this one and I had a hard time adapting to it. But now I got bored of ranting about it and I’m starting to see the bright side of this change so all is good in da hood!
Issue 2 of the Xavografica Zine is delayed by a week or so simply because I wanted to put down the story about my pilgrimage to Mexico City but I found that there are so many stories to tell that it would either be the case of presenting it in several different zine volumes (which I don’t want to do) or doing a photo-book (which I don’t want to do either) simply because I’m awfully bad at marketing these things and selling myself. If I’ve learned something about working with publishers all these years is that most of the work is done on sales and I suck at sales big time!
Also, some of these stories don’t fit with the aesthetic, feel and vibe of a zine so I’ve decided to change the subject to something many of you love.
As for the Mexico City journey, I’m creating a series of fortnightly newsletters with all the photos and stories. The first one will be out on the 10th of February so stay tuned if you like that style of work from me.
Having these newsletters scheduled will give me some peace knowing that I have a few good newsletters scheduled for several weeks. Mostly because I’ll be away for a few weeks working on a personal project in Rome, mostly architecture, art, observational photography, you know, the kind of thing that I like to do!
In the meantime, enjoy these photos from my recent weekend-trip to Barcelona.
Lovely photography journey!
Gorgeous light on the first and last image, Xavi! Have fun in Rome.
